Cultist is proud and pleased and other words that begin with “P” to announce the launch of Cultist Records, as well as the first release off our newly formed label, a three song EP from Los Angeles band Criminal Hygiene.
The Withdrawn 7 inch will feature three new tracks from the Echo Park outfit: “Withdrawn”, “Sold In The City”, and “Bye Bye”, and will be limited to a run of 500 copies on red vinyl.
The self-described “Barn Rockers” self-released their first album CRMNL HYGNE in January of 2013. It has been described as “balancing the evocative with the asinine” as well as likened to The Replacements and later Nirvana, amongst others. They have since shared bills with Hunx and His Punx, The Orwells, Zig Zags, and more.
We’re not going to describe the new EP for you because you have ears and a brain and will hear it for yourself soon enough.
The EP will be released February 4th digitally worldwide and physically via the soon-to-launch Cultist online shop, and will also be available at the Cultist Zine two year anniversary event at The Echo (yes we are throwing ourselves another birthday party for our blog). This will also serve as the EP release party and will feature performances from White Lung, Heller Keller, Washing Machines, and of course, Criminal Hygiene.
