Here are a few things you should know about Bay Area rapper and handsome gentleman Antwon: he loves Blink-182 (although he prefers Dude Ranch to Cheshire Cat, which I personally cannot get behind), he is incredibly talented at Snapchat (his “White Girls Be Like…” series is truly art), and he does one of the most beautiful renditions of the Backstreet Boys classic “I Want It That Way” . Oh yeah, and he’s a really fucking good rapper. The San Jose native and former hardcore kid turned internet (Post-internet? Whatever the fuck the kids are calling it these days) rap hero might be a bit out there, but he’s no weirdo rapper: his style is nuanced, at once reverential of both Biggie and Black Flag, and his deep, growly voice booms over the range of beats he chooses for his albums (be they gothy and dark, bouncy and dancey, or straight sex bangers). Then there’s the matter of his lyrics. Often they are sexually explicit, but in a way that is empowering and arousing, and most importantly, downright feminist; he truly loves and admires strong women, and is vocal about it. And other times he is angst-ridden and lonesome, in a way that is more vulnerable and honest than most twerk-rap out there. Antwon isn’t just feeling some type of way, he’s feeling all sorts of ways, and he’s not afraid to get into them in his music.

His latest release, Heavy Hearted In DoldrumsĀ (ft. contributions from Heems, Lil Ugly Mane, Pictureplane, Lakutis, and Cities Aviv, amongst others), is out today, and you can download it for free over at the UNIF website, plus pick up some limited edition collaboration merch (I’ll take the hockey jersey, please and thank you Twon).

Read our mini interview with Antwon, then make sure to watch his latest video for “Don’t Care” (directed by Cali DeWitt), completely with a panty-dropping verse from his DJ and Twitter pin-up Sad Andy:

1. What is your life motto?
Do unto others as other do to you (no sketch).

2. Who is your muse?
All things bomb as fuck.

3. What is your idea of abject misery?
Loneliness probably.

4. What is your idea of total happiness?
Enjoying friendship, being very lazy, and sex all the time.

5. What is the best quality in a woman?
Everything (not kidding)

6. What is the best quality in a man?
Real friendship (not kidding)

7. Draw a self-portrait:
