Here’s the thing about me and art shows: we don’t mix well. Sure, I want to be CULTURAL and HIP and all the other things that art-show goers are, but really I am awkward and very into television shows such as Franklin And Bash and Royal Pains. So all I end up doing is downing whatever free boutique wine/aged tequila/hibiscus-flavored vodka they offer for free while circulating the room pretending to look at the same pieces of work a bunch of times before resigning myself to standing outside smoking until my friends are ready to leave.

But an art show that promises to provide both sensory overload (in the form of an amalgamation of fashion, music, photography, film and technology by five artists) AND a dance party? Even a dork like me can get down with that (especially since this season of Franklin And Bash is already over). MILK Studios has teamed up with Ford for this not-so-art-show-art-show, and Milk’s in-house creative team LEGS tapped artists Brian DeGraw (Gang Gang Dance), Item Idem (aka Cyril Duvall), Matthew Williams, Nathaniel Brown, and Wife to create multimedia works inspired by the concept of “fusion”, combining sculpture, videography, painting, music, and all sorts of other awesome. It already happened in New York so I have PROOF that it was a great time (aka party photos of impossibly hip people trying not to show how much they are enjoying themselves but failing).

The music for the event will be provided by #Been #Trill (I’m not cool but even I know THEY’RE cool) which means I can now awkwardly dance instead of awkwardly stand.

If you live in Los Angeles be sure to RSVP for the August 29th event at wall-la@milkstudios.com.
